Day 9 Tortellini Soup Redux

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation leans on the doorbell.
To drive by Wendy's drive-thru tonight, I had to grip the steering wheel with a vise grip. This is the night, I was sure, that I would cave in. Who would know? The rationale was flawless...
Even though I had some tortellini soup leftover, I don't like leftovers. There are only three things I like in leftover form: 1) Thanksgiving dinner 2) my mom's recipe for "Pan Spaghetti" which is canned spaghetti with green pepper and onion and ground beef and 3) a family recipe for Sloppy Joe's which are made with onion, green pepper, ketchup and pickle relish...trust me, these are super. Those things actually improve with a second heating.

My rationale continued...the soup I made was unappealing when I checked it cold in the fridge this morning (it was 7 a.m....nothing appeals to me at 7 a.m.). I had worked later than usual and it was very cold out. I had worn boots that hurt my feet. See? Flawless. I deserve to drive thru Wendy's. I even think they are waiting for me.  But how would a picture of a Wendy's single look on my blog? And my taste buds have become accustomed to better flavor and quality. And the single could get cold on the way home.

So, I went to Trader Joe's. Bought some more nut and fruit bread and some Triple Creme Brie. And I headed home. The soup looked much more appetizing at 7 p.m. And even more appealing bubbling in the pot. And the grilled cheese sizzled in the pan. And, folks, it was even better second time around. Part deux it is...not mere leftovers. So tomorrow I will make a wonderful chili and cornbread casserole recipe I made a while ago. This time it will be Chili Redux!
